    Louie Di Palma

    Director, SME Programs,

    Ontario Chamber of Commerce

    As the Director of SME Programs, Louie is responsible for developing and implementing initiatives of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce that are designed to strengthen the business climate of Ontario and support our members by providing them with access to resources.


    During his career with the Government of Ontario, Louie held a number of senior management positions in policy, planning and direct operations with several Ministries including the Ministry of the Solicitor General and Correctional Services, the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation and the Ministry of Health Promotion.

    David Staniforth

    Vice President, International Expansion, BDC

    David Staniforth was appointed Vice President, International Expansion with BDC Advisory Services in 2016.

    In this role, he leads BDC’s initiatives aimed at supporting Canadian entrepreneurs as they access international markets.


    Before joining BDC, he held several executive roles abroad with companies such as SAAB, GM Europe, Fiat and PSA. In these various roles, Mr. Staniforth developed market entry and expansion strategies in Europe, China, South America and the United States. He also gained significant experience with entrepreneurs, including auto dealers, parts suppliers and customers for fleet vehicle sales.


    He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from INSEAD in France. He is fluent in English, French and Swedish, and proficient in German and Italian.

    Adrian Cheng

    Owner and President, Gets International Inc.

    As Owner and President of GETS International Inc, Adrian comes from a strong background of international trade, sales and marketing. Since 2008, he has worked closely with the Consulate General of Canada in Hong Kong, Canadian Trade Commissioner Services, the Hong Kong Government and various provincial governments including Ontario, BC, Quebec and Alberta.


    He was proudly apart of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Toronto Office working as the Business Development Officer in the Canada region for 6 years. He was the project manager leading many major Canadian trade missions to Hong Kong in sectors including Food, Wine, Life Sciences, Fashion, Clean Tech, Film and Digital Technology.

    His experience and passion has directed him to establish GETS INT to help Canadian companies enter new markets on a more intimate level and increase their chances of success.


    In 2011, Adrian also co-founded HKCBA (Hong Kong-Canada Business Association) NexToronto which supports young Canadian business professionals and entrepreneurs with ties or interest in Hong Kong.

    Andy Subasinghe

    VP, Global Trade Finance, TD Securities

    Andy Subasinghe has well over 25 years of experience in Global Trade Finance and has been with TD Securities for the last ten years focusing on Global Trade Finance business development.


    He provides professional advice on risk mitigation and export financing to clients engaged in international trade; and is recognized as a trusted advisor by customers dealing with international trade.


    He has an expert knowledge on Letters of Credits, Standby Letter of Credits, Guarantees, Documentary Collections, Medium Term Export Financing and programs offered by Canada’s official export credit agency, EDC.


    Andy holds a BSc in Mathematics and MBA from York University.

    Miryam Lazarte

    Vice-President of Business Development at Go South! Consulting Inc.​

    Miryam Lazarte is a serial entrepreneur who is working to connect the Canadian and Latin American innovation markets. She is the Vice-President of Business Development at Go South! Consulting Inc., which helps Canadian companies gain a foothold in Latin America through market research, trade shows, negotiation assistance, and more. Clients and partners include EDC, Startup Canada, ProColombia, ProMexico and ProChile.

    James Oliver

    Director of Marketing and Sales, Adamson Systems Engineering​

    James was appointed Director of Marketing and Sales with Adamson Systems Engineering in 2014. In the three-years he’s been at the helm of the international sales network, Adamson’s annual sales volume has more than doubled and the company is expanding on all fronts. This growth has sparked the need for a now-completed 40,000 sq.ft. addition to its production facility, as well as the addition of more than 50 new jobs to the Durham region.


    Adamson has become a poster child for Canadian Exporters, with more than 97% of their annual turnover being shipped outside of Canada. James is tasked with the management of more than 70 resale partners in 35 countries including a team dedicated to sales and support

    Steve Callaghan

    Stephen joined EDC in 2000 and is responsible for the leadership of the Ontario team in the Commercial markets and Small Business segment.


    Stephen has held a variety of leadership positions at EDC, including District Manager for the regional office in Mississauga and Manager of the Ontario regional Contract Insurance and Bonding team.


    EDC is Canada’s export credit agency, offering innovative commercial solutions to help Canadian exporters and investors expand their international business.
